So I was looking around for the new episode of the Office, then I remembered theres now new episode this week because of the VP debate. Then, I remembered  well what about Chuck I havent seen this week’s episode, then it hit me, NBC did show the premiere on the internet a week before they did on TV. And by the way I just gotta say I love the show it gives hope to geeks like me who still hope that they would become some sort of spy and have hot chick/s protecting you. I know the shows not laugh out loud funny but the characters are pretty charming and that connection with the audience augments the humor well. So anyway enough about that, while downing a subway and pondering what I would do next I saw an interview of Yvone Strzechowski on Youtube (sidenote: I always thought she was Russian or something.. but Australian? Even better!!). So that video was an interview she was doing on KTLA and a few minutes into it I heard a familiar voice.. OMG its my high school crush Cher Calvin. I used to watch nightly news because of her, I loved her shows back in the Philippines, hated her station.. loved her shows! Oh, man she was it for me back in the day.. she was so smart on shows like Points of View, she seemed classy but a lot of fun to hang out with.. you know the type. Well she dissappeared from my radar a few years back and now I finally know what she’s up to. So to Cher… heres to seeing you a couple of meters away from me in the streets of L.A. or New York just like in Manila a few years ago. So thats it for my story, I just thought it was sort of interesting, and now back to tech news!

Check out her KTLA profile here.

I’m a little late on this one since I wasnt able to do much posting yesterday but in case you missed it the Microchip just turned 50! And Texas Instruments celebrated by announcing the new Kilby Labs.

DALLAS (September 12, 2008) – Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) (NYSE:TXN) announced its new “Kilby Labs” today, a center of innovation designed to foster creative ideas for breakthrough semiconductor technology. Launched on September 12, the 50th anniversary of the integrated circuit, the new labs will build on IC inventor Jack Kilby’s legacy of revolutionizing our lives through chip innovation.

Kilby Labs will be located on TI’s Dallas North Campus and is inspired by the original TI lab, where Kilby first designed the chip that opened the door to 3G cell phones, portable ultrasound machines and automotive antilock braking systems. The new facility, though, will bring together university researchers and leading TI engineers to discover life-changing opportunities for semiconductor technology. From creating new ways to make health care more mobile to harnessing new power sources to enabling more fuel-efficient vehicles, researchers at the Kilby Labs will focus on developing chip advances that make a difference

Google is a powerhouse of a company theres no denying that, its become a verb and frankly its a little scary how much people depend on Google services especially when it comes to the ‘cloud.’ But theres no room for negativity in this blog post (maybe in another one) for now, lets celebrate Google’s success. Here are a few interesting links with regards to Google’s birthday.

With all the advancements in technology for modern combat (see How to disappear) nothing still replaces the bad-assery (I hope thats a word) of slugging it out mano e’ mano. I just had to show you guys this new list from cracked.com, plus Eskrima or Arnis which is the Philippines fighting style is ranked number 2!  Makes me reminisce of the exciting and funny action films like Kamagong, and Anak ng Lupa.

I slept at 4am today playing DoTa, then for some reason i still woke up at 9 am on a Sunday. I thought “hmm, there must be something important that I had to do.”  And then it hit me..  SPORE LAUNCH @ Funan Mall!!  I wasnt in a hurry, afterall the launch wasnt until 12 pm so I arrived at Funan at exactly 10:30 thinking that I’d be the first in line looking all geeky and excited to get my freebies. And then this is what I saw…

And then I said the gamers prayer.. “OMFG, I hope Im still part of the first 200 buyers to get extra swag.” So I went in line just playing PSP and listening to music to help pass the time when I noticed that everyone in queue had one thing I didn’t, they all pre-ordered the game! So I was like, ” nah, I’m sure I can buy at the booth.” So I waited a little longer and when the booth was finally in sight, just when I can breath in the smell of newly packaged games I saw that there was only a redemption booth, and that there was a separate line for those that didnt pre-order.  After that I bowed my head, not in a cool way like batman does, more like when Krusty the Clown after a bad show. I almost wanted to go home, but no I was already there and nothing was gonna stop me from creating my intergalactic spore army.. (plus I’ve already wasted 20 bucks on cab fare so might as well do something right?). And so I went on the other queue and purchased my “pre-order receipt.” Long story short I went straight home after eating a quick lunch at subway and now I have to finish this blog post coz the spore setup is done. :)
